A Season of Growth
This summer has been especially meaningful as my first season cultivating Gross Point Acres. We now have dahlia fields, a pumpkin patch, and a strawberry patch planted and ready for spring.
As a new farmer, I’ve learned so much. Here are a few lessons from my first season:
Listen to your plants—and check the soil before watering. Overwatering is a common mistake.
Stay ahead of the weeds, especially in the pumpkin field.
Know your soil’s pH level; it makes a big difference.
Every successful gardener experiences failures and lost plants. Each one is an opportunity to learn.
Mother Nature keeps farmers and gardeners on their toes—especially here in Wisconsin!
I hope to see you soon at the farm stand or at one of the many events popping up at Gross Point Acres.
Warmly, Marge Gross Point Acres
